Professor Titus K. Beyuo, the Member of Parliament for Lambussie, has formally called on the government to completely lift the curfew currently in place in Hamile. This appeal follows a recent announcement by the Ministry of the Interior to reduce the curfew hours rather than abolish them. Beyuo argues that the security situation in the border town has returned to normalcy following a fatal explosion on November 3, rendering the continued movement restrictions unnecessary and counterproductive to the community's welfare.
The curfew was initially established as a security measure after a tragic incident that claimed three lives and left others injured. While acknowledging the initial necessity of the restrictions and praising the efforts of security agencies in managing the aftermath, the MP highlighted the severe economic hardships the curfew imposes on local residents and businesses. In a show of direct support for his constituents, Professor Beyuo confirmed he has taken responsibility for the medical expenses of those injured in the blast and continues to assist the affected families.
Beyond the removal of the curfew, the Lambussie lawmaker is advocating for a comprehensive and thorough investigation into the causes of the explosion to ensure accountability and prevent future occurrences. He maintains that while the recent reduction of curfew hours is a step toward recovery, only a total lifting of the restrictions will allow the community to fully restore its economic and social vitality. The Ministry of the Interior has not yet indicated whether it will consider a further easing of the restrictions in response to the legislator's appeal.
