The Telecel Ghana Foundation has delivered a suite of essential medical equipment and healthcare supplies to the Kumasi Central Prison. The donation, presented to the Ghana Prisons Medical Equipment Bank, is specifically designed to address the persistent lack of quality healthcare resources within the country's correctional facilities. By providing these necessary tools, the foundation aims to enhance the capacity of prison clinics to provide immediate and effective medical attention to inmates.
The donated items include patient examination beds, blood pressure monitors, and nebulizers, which are critical for managing both routine health checks and acute respiratory conditions. Kweku Asiedu, speaking on behalf of Telecel Ghana, emphasized that the initiative is rooted in the belief that every individual deserves access to quality medical care, regardless of their circumstances. He noted that the foundation’s goal is to bridge the gap in healthcare delivery for underserved populations, ensuring that correctional facilities are better equipped to handle the medical needs of those in their care.
Officials from the Kumasi Central Prison expressed their gratitude for the support, describing the donation as a timely intervention that will significantly improve the quality of service at the prison's medical wing. This contribution is part of a broader nationwide effort by the Telecel Ghana Foundation to support health infrastructure in marginalized communities. By focusing on the Ghana Prisons Medical Equipment Bank, the foundation seeks to create a sustainable pipeline of resources that can be deployed to improve health outcomes across various correctional centers in Ghana.
