Team Volta has emerged as the overall winner of the National Petroleum Authority’s (NPA) 2026 Staff Welfare Week Quiz Competition, demonstrating exceptional knowledge of Ghana's energy sector. The high-stakes event, which concluded in October 2026, saw various teams representing the authority’s regional offices and directorates compete for top honors. Team Volta, a combined force of personnel from the Volta Regional Office and select head office directorates, secured the first-place position, earning a grand prize of GH¢30,000 for their outstanding performance.
The competition was structured to serve as more than just an academic exercise; it was a strategic initiative aimed at fostering deeper collaboration and teamwork across the NPA’s diverse departments. Contestants were tested on a wide range of subjects, specifically focusing on the authority's regulatory mandates and the latest technological and policy developments within the global and local oil and gas industry. The intensity of the quiz reflected the high level of professional expertise required to manage the downstream petroleum sector. Team Bono and Team Western also delivered strong performances, finishing in second and third place, respectively.
As part of the broader 2026 Staff Welfare Week, the quiz highlighted the NPA’s commitment to internal capacity building and knowledge sharing. By encouraging staff to remain well-versed in industry regulations and trends, the authority ensures its workforce is equipped to handle the complexities of energy regulation. Such initiatives are seen as essential for maintaining operational excellence and organizational unity, reinforcing the NPA's role as a critical pillar in Ghana's infrastructure and energy landscape. The event concluded with a call for continued dedication to the values of teamwork and professional growth within the authority.
