The General Council of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, has officially inaugurated its new leadership team following a comprehensive four-day Leadership Prayer and Orientation Retreat at the church’s headquarters in Accra. This transition marks the commencement of a new administrative term for the Executive Presbytery, alongside National Departmental Directors and Coordinators. At the helm of this new chapter is Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, who was re-elected as General Superintendent, signaling a continuation of the church’s strategic vision under his established leadership.
Central to the new administration’s focus is the "Transformation Agenda," a multifaceted roadmap championed by Rev. Wengam to revitalize the denomination’s impact across Ghana. The agenda prioritizes nationwide discipleship, the restoration of Pentecostal fervor, and significant infrastructural development. A key component of this plan is the commitment to enhancing the welfare of pastors, particularly those serving in rural areas who often face unique challenges. Rev. Wengam urged the newly inducted officials to demonstrate unwavering loyalty to Christ and strictly adhere to the church’s doctrines as they execute these ambitious goals.
The new executive team includes several prominent leaders who will support the General Superintendent in implementing the church's mission. Joining the leadership are Rev. Kwadwo Boateng Bempah as the Assistant General Superintendent and Rev. Albert Anane, who assumes the role of General Secretary. Other critical appointments include Rev. Mrs. Esther Dwommoh as the National Women’s Ministry Director, Rev. Aaron Fant as the Home Missions Director, and Rev. Boniface Keelson as the Foreign Missions Director. This diverse group of officials is tasked with bridging the gap between national administration and local congregations.
The inauguration ceremony was more than a formal hand-over; it served as a platform for deep theological and practical discussions on leadership, loyalty, and wisdom. By integrating spiritual preparation through the four-day retreat with organizational strategy, the Assemblies of God, Ghana, aims to strengthen its internal structures while expanding its evangelical reach. As these officials begin their tenure, the focus remains on discipling the nation and ensuring that the church’s growth is matched by a deep commitment to the spiritual and physical well-being of its members and clergy alike.
