Ghana’s Spintex Knights have successfully advanced to the Elite 16 stage of the Road to the Basketball Africa League (BAL) after an impressive performance in Cape Verde. The Accra-based club maintained a perfect record throughout the group stage, winning all three of their matches to secure their spot in the next qualifying phase. This achievement keeps the team on track toward their goal of becoming the first Ghanaian club to qualify for the prestigious Basketball Africa League tournament.
The Knights' path to the Elite 16 was marked by a series of dominant displays against regional rivals. They opened their campaign with a hard-fought 96–90 victory over Guinea's Nabaya Sofas, followed by a more comfortable 88–66 win against the NPA Pythons of Liberia. The team concluded their group matches with a decisive 92–71 triumph over Benin–based Energie BBC. These results mean the club has maintained an unbeaten record for the third consecutive year across their competitive outings.
Following their success in Cape Verde, the Spintex Knights will now shift their focus to the West Division semifinals, where they are set to face Ivory Coast's Jeunesse Club d'Abidjan (JCA). This upcoming match is a significant rematch for the Ghanaian side, who have vowed to improve upon their previous year’s results against the Ivorian opponents. As they move closer to the final qualifying rounds, the Knights carry the hopes of the Ghanaian basketball community in their bid to reach the continental stage.
