Sista Afia joins Sarkodie for surprise set at Rapperholic '26 in Kumasi

Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng slams Sarkodie over amputee video comments

Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, the Head of Public Relations for musician Stonebwoy, has publicly criticized rapper Sarkodie for his handling of a recent controversy involving a video of amputees. Speaking in an interview on Class FM, Boateng described the rapper's comments regarding the subsequent backlash as "irresponsible." This critique marks a significant public disagreement between a leading public relations expert and one of Ghana's most prominent musical figures. During the discussion with host DJ Slim, Boateng expressed deep displeasure with how Sarkodie chose to respond to the public outcry following the release of the footage. The controversy stems from a video involving amputees that had previously sparked a wave of criticism across social media. Rather than offering an apology or a clarification that resonated with the public, Sarkodie’s reaction was viewed by Boateng as dismissive of the concerns raised by the audience and the disability community. The PR expert went further to challenge the rapper’s conviction regarding the appropriateness of the footage. In a bold move, she dared Sarkodie to repost the controversial video if he truly believed his stance was correct and justified. Her critique highlights the ongoing tension regarding the ethical representation of vulnerable groups in media and the responsibilities that high-profile artists bear when sharing content to their massive digital followings. This development adds another layer to the complex relationship between the camps of Ghana's biggest music stars. As a prominent voice in artiste management and public relations, Boateng’s critique serves as a call for more sensitive communication strategies from top-tier entertainers. While Sarkodie has yet to respond to these specific comments, the exchange has reignited social media debates about the boundaries of content creation and the necessity of accountability for influential public figures.
