Simon Madjie, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA), has called for a significant increase in Qatari investment across Ghana’s primary economic sectors. Speaking at the World Investment Forum 2026 held in Doha, Mr. Madjie detailed the diverse opportunities available to Middle Eastern investors, particularly within the fields of agriculture, manufacturing, energy, and tourism. His remarks form part of a broader strategic initiative by the Ghanaian government to attract foreign direct investment and foster robust bilateral partnerships that support national development goals.
During an interview with Doha News on the sidelines of the forum, the GIPA boss highlighted the necessity of deepening economic ties between Ghana and Qatar. He outlined how partnerships in manufacturing and agriculture could serve as catalysts for industrial growth and food security. Mr. Madjie noted that Ghana is actively working to improve its overall business climate, ensuring that regulatory frameworks are transparent and investor-friendly. By showcasing the country's stability and strategic location in West Africa, he aimed to position Ghana as a gateway for Qatari firms looking to expand their presence on the continent.
In addition to sectoral opportunities, Mr. Madjie identified air connectivity as a critical factor in facilitating trade and investment between the two nations. He advocated for enhanced transport links, arguing that more frequent and direct air routes would significantly reduce the cost of doing business and encourage greater cultural and commercial exchange. As Ghana continues to market itself as a premier investment destination, the GIPA’s participation in the Doha forum underscores the government's commitment to diversifying its sources of foreign capital and building sustainable, long-term economic alliances.
