Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has donated GH₵20,000 to the family of late police officer Prince Adu, who died while on duty for the musician’s headline event. The officer was involved in a fatal road accident while traveling to Accra to provide security services for ShattaFest 2026. The financial contribution is intended to support the officer's grieving family and provide relief following the unexpected loss of their relative.
Representatives from Shatta Wale’s team visited the residence of the deceased officer to formally present the donation and express the artist's condolences. During the visit, the team emphasized that the funds were specifically directed toward the welfare and future needs of the officer’s children. The gesture was presented as a mark of respect for the officer’s dedication to ensuring the safety of patrons at the major entertainment gathering, highlighting the personal connection between the artist and the personnel who safeguard his events.
ShattaFest 2026, held in the capital, required a robust security presence to manage the large crowds characteristic of Shatta Wale's performances. The tragic death of Officer Adu occurred during the mobilization phase of the security operation, a development that deeply affected the event organizers. By stepping in to provide financial relief, Shatta Wale has acknowledged the critical role the Ghana Police Service plays in the success and safety of the nation's creative arts sector.
