Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has launched a fresh verbal attack on the former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, during a recent public broadcast. Speaking to his followers in a TikTok Live session on October 23, 2026, the artist expressed his ongoing frustration regarding his 2021 arrest and the resulting criminal record, which he directly attributes to the former police chief's tenure.
During the live stream, Shatta Wale asserted that the legal record from his previous prosecution has become a significant obstacle to his professional growth, specifically impacting his international travel. He revealed that he now encounters increased scrutiny and complications when applying for visas or passing through foreign immigration checkpoints. The musician voiced his displeasure by stating that the consequences of that 2021 legal encounter continue to hinder his ability to travel freely for his music career.
The 2021 incident involved Shatta Wale’s arrest after he staged a hoax claiming he had been shot, which led to charges of publication of false news and a brief period of remand. While the police administration under Dampare was known for its strict enforcement of public order laws, the musician maintains that the actions taken against him were overly punitive and have caused lasting damage to his global mobility. As of the time of the broadcast, neither the former IGP nor current police officials have commented on the musician's accusations.
