Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has called for increased investment in the country’s creative economy from both the government and the private sector. Following the success of his Rapperholic concert in Kumasi on October 24, 2026, the artist emphasized that the entertainment industry acts as a significant economic driver. He argued that major events like Rapperholic create opportunities that extend far beyond the stage, impacting multiple sectors across the national economy.
The event, held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, saw a massive turnout that underscored the potential of the creative arts to mobilize large audiences. Sarkodie expressed his gratitude to his fan base, SarkNation, and various media organizations for their support in promoting the concert. Since its inception in 2012, the Rapperholic brand has sought to enhance regional tourism, with the latest Kumasi edition serving as a testament to the brand's growth and its ability to stimulate local commerce.
Support for Sarkodie’s position came from industry leaders such as Samuel Clottey, CEO of Sam Creatives. Clottey praised the high attendance and urged Ghanaians to emulate the support shown by the people of Asanteman. He highlighted that community pride in local artists is a crucial component of industrial growth, suggesting that a national movement to celebrate Ghanaian musicians could yield significant socio-economic benefits.
Looking forward, Sarkodie stressed the need for a collaborative ecosystem where the government and private investors work together to build infrastructure for the arts. He noted that the creative supply chain directly benefits the tourism, hospitality, and transportation sectors. By establishing measurable economic frameworks, the rapper believes Ghana can fully harness the potential of its entertainment industry to drive broader national prosperity.
