Samuel Victor Addo, a 67-year-old former corporate professional, has officially been called to the Ghana Bar, fulfilling a lifelong ambition to enter the legal profession. His enrollment comes after years of dedicated study in Ghana, where he transitioned from a successful career in corporate America to the rigours of legal education. Mr. Addo was part of the 2026 cohort of new lawyers, demonstrating that age is no barrier to achieving professional excellence and pursuing new intellectual challenges.
Reflecting on his academic journey, Mr. Addo described the experience of studying alongside classmates decades younger than himself as refreshing rather than daunting. He emphasized that the path to the bar required immense discipline and a steadfast commitment to his goals, noting that failure was never an option throughout his studies. His return to the classroom in Ghana followed a lengthy tenure in the United States, highlighting a narrative of resilience and the pursuit of a dream that had been deferred but never abandoned.
Looking ahead, Mr. Addo intends to dedicate his legal career to public service, with a specific focus on assisting disadvantaged individuals who may otherwise struggle to access legal support. While he plans to maintain a general legal practice initially, his primary goal is to use his expertise to provide accessible advice to his family and social circles. He expressed a desire to remain active in the legal field for as long as he is physically capable, aiming to bring valuable insights to those in need of guidance through complex legal decisions.
