The Ministry of Roads and Highways has been named the Public Sector PR Organisation of the Year for the second consecutive year at the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana Excellence Awards. Held in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, the awards ceremony celebrated institutions that have demonstrated exceptional communication strategies and built significant public trust. This latest accolade solidifies the Ministry's reputation for maintaining high standards in its interactions with the public and various stakeholders regarding national development.
The IPR Ghana specifically commended the Ministry for its proactive approach to information dissemination and stakeholder engagement concerning road infrastructure projects. The adjudicators highlighted the innovative use of digital platforms and social media as critical factors in the Ministry’s success. Led by Alhaji Nasir Ahmad Yartey, the Public Relations Unit has been instrumental in transforming how the Ministry engages with local communities and the media, ensuring that updates on complex infrastructure developments are both timely and accessible to all citizens.
This achievement follows a track record of excellence in communication for the Ministry, which previously secured the Best Social Media PR Unit title at the 2022 Government PROs Excellence Awards. Ministry officials have restated their commitment to furthering these communication reforms, viewing them as essential to the broader goal of delivering modern road infrastructure. By fostering transparent public engagement, the Ministry aims to keep the Ghanaian public informed about the progress and milestones of road construction projects across the country.
