Ramatu Gumah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nollywood–Africa in Diaspora Film & Food Festival and Awards (NADFFA), has launched the initiative in Accra to celebrate the continent's creative industries. The launch ceremony took place on October 29, 2026, at the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, where organizers outlined the vision for the upcoming festival. Scheduled to be held from March 12 to 14, 2027, the event is designed to strengthen cultural and economic ties between Ghana, Nigeria, and the broader African diaspora.
The festival operates under the theme "Uniting Cultures. Celebrating Excellence," aiming to provide a platform for African cinema, cuisine, and tourism. During the launch, Gumah explained that NADFFA is intended to create a more integrated ecosystem for the creative sector, allowing artists and stakeholders to collaborate across borders. The event featured live performances from local artists and was attended by various stakeholders from the entertainment industry, underscoring the collaborative nature of the project.
The 2027 festival will include a range of activities, such as film screenings, food exhibitions showcasing African culinary traditions, and networking opportunities for industry professionals. In her address, Gumah encouraged corporate entities to support the initiative, emphasizing that the festival offers a unique opportunity to project Africa’s narrative on the global stage. By fostering these connections, the organizers hope to showcase the continent's creative potential and heritage to a worldwide audience.
