William Owusu, a Ghanaian pastor and used-car importer, has filed a lawsuit against Nigerian national Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu over an alleged failure to pay for a luxury vehicle. The legal action centers on a 2018 Lincoln Navigator valued at GH₵800,000. Owusu claims that Ihenetu, who is a prominent figure known as the ‘HRM Eze Igbo King in Ghana’, has refused to honor the financial terms of their sales agreement following the delivery of the automobile.
According to the court filings, the defendant took possession of the SUV in February 2026 under a specific sales agreement. However, the plaintiff alleges that since the transfer of the vehicle, Dr. Ihenetu has not made any payments toward the outstanding balance. Owusu, who balances his religious duties with a business importing second-hand vehicles, asserts that the refusal to pay has necessitated judicial intervention to recover the substantial sum owed for the transaction.
The lawsuit seeks the full recovery of the GH₵800,000 balance plus associated legal costs. This case highlights the risks involved in high-value private sales and the reliance on legal frameworks to resolve payment disputes within the automotive sector. The court is expected to hear the matter as the plaintiff pursues the settlement of the debt for the luxury vehicle which has remained unpaid for several months.
