The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has called on members of The Lord’s Pentecostal Church International (TLPCI) to maintain their spiritual integrity and mission as they celebrate 65 years of existence. Speaking at the church’s 65th Annual General Conference in Accra, Dr. Kwakye emphasized the importance of staying faithful to the gospel and avoiding the pitfalls of internal conflict and complacency as the denomination reflects on its history.
During his address, Dr. Kwakye cautioned the church leadership and its over 32,500 members against allowing partisan political interests to infiltrate the sanctuary. He noted that while the church has experienced significant growth from its humble beginnings, this success should not lead to a level of comfort that obscures its primary evangelical purpose. He specifically highlighted that unity within the body of Christ is essential, particularly during milestone celebrations which can sometimes become distracted by administrative or external political disputes.
TLPCI’s 65th anniversary serves as a period of reflection on its expansion and its broader impact on Ghanaian society. Beyond providing spiritual guidance, the church has established various social and educational initiatives aimed at community development. The Moderator acknowledged these contributions, noting that the church's strategic priorities for the future must balance continued spiritual growth with the expansion of these vital social interventions.
The conference marks the official commencement of anniversary activities for TLPCI, focusing on a theme of strategic future planning. Dr. Kwakye concluded by encouraging the congregation to look toward their next chapter with a focus on institutional strengthening and missionary outreach. The event brought together various stakeholders within the Christian community to celebrate the denomination's heritage and its ongoing role in the religious landscape of Ghana.
