The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all prospective parliamentary aspirants to immediately suspend campaign activities until the party issues official guidelines and a timetable. The directive, issued by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong on October 11, 2026, comes after several reports of premature campaigning across various constituencies. The party warned that any individual who ignores this order risks disciplinary action, which may include being declared ineligible to contest in the upcoming primaries. Under the new order, all forms of active promotion are prohibited until the party officially releases its electoral roadmap. This ban covers the distribution of campaign materials, the mounting of posters and billboards, and the organization of rallies or community meetings intended to solicit support. Additionally, prospective candidates are barred from using paid media advertisements on traditional and digital platforms to promote their bids. General Secretary Kodua Frimpong emphasized that these measures are necessary to maintain fairness and internal discipline while the party prepares its official electoral timetable. Several aspirants have already announced their intention to comply with the party leadership's directive. Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, a prospective candidate for Essikado-Ketan, confirmed he has suspended all promotional efforts and urged his supporters to refrain from unauthorized campaigning or personal attacks. Similarly, Manso Nkwanta aspirant Frederick Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as Yentumi, stated that adhering to the directive is essential for maintaining unity as the party prepares for future elections. The NPP headquarters has tasked constituency and regional executives with monitoring and ensuring full compliance within their respective jurisdictions. This move is designed to prevent internal friction and ensure a level playing field for all potential candidates. The party is expected to announce the official roadmap for parliamentary selections soon, which will provide a structured path toward the 2028 general elections while supporting the party's flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
