Employees of the Ninani Group recently participated in the organization's annual wellness programme, a day dedicated to physical fitness, mental refreshment, and team bonding. The event saw staff members from six distinct marketing communications agencies within the group step away from their desk-bound routines to engage in a variety of competitive and recreational activities. This year’s programme featured a health walk through the Ibri Mountains, alongside high-energy competitions in football, racing, and table tennis, fostering a sense of camaraderie and physical resilience among the workforce.
Justin Antwi-Darkwa, the Chief Operating Officer of Results Advertising and a leader within the group, emphasized the vital importance of the initiative in the context of the modern workplace. He noted that the demands of the marketing industry often keep employees at their desks for extended periods, making it essential to prioritize health and wellness. According to Antwi-Darkwa, the event serves as a catalyst for healthier lifestyle choices, as many employees spent weeks preparing through physical training and improved dietary habits to ensure they could compete effectively and maintain their overall well-being.
Further reinforcing the need for the programme, HR representative Akosua Aworae Apau highlighted the specific pressures of the marketing communications sector. She stated that such breaks are necessary to prevent burnout and to allow colleagues to reconnect in a non-work environment. The wellness initiative, which has been a staple of the Ninani Group’s corporate culture for approximately five to six years, was bolstered by support from corporate partners including Myst Water and Beta Malt, demonstrating a collaborative approach to health advocacy within the business community.
Looking ahead, the Ninani Group aims to scale the impact of its wellness efforts by involving corporate clients in future iterations of the event. By expanding the scope of the programme, the group hopes to inspire other organizations to recognize the link between employee health and productivity. The initiative serves as a model for corporate Ghana, encouraging a proactive approach to wellness that extends beyond the office walls and into the daily lives of the workforce.
