The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will hold its constituency executive elections on October 24 and 25, 2026, with approximately 15,000 aspirants contesting leadership positions across 276 constituencies. This large-scale internal reorganization is part of the party's strategic preparation for the 2028 general elections. While most constituencies are set to vote over the weekend, the Ketu South constituency will conduct its polls slightly earlier on Friday, October 23.
General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey announced several strict guidelines to protect the integrity of the voting process during a recent press briefing. The party has prohibited tally voting for eight specific executive positions to minimize the risk of disputes. Additionally, all delegates must present a valid Ghana Card, voter ID, or party membership card to be verified before casting their ballots. Kwetey stressed that election officials have been directed to enforce these verification measures rigorously to ensure a transparent and fair outcome.
The Electoral Commission (EC) is tasked with supervising the elections, with the Ghana Police Service providing security at all polling centers. Although most constituencies will see competitive races, the party confirmed that candidates in the Juabeso and Banda constituencies are running unopposed for their respective roles. This election cycle is the first major organizational exercise for the NDC since the inauguration of President John Mahama in January 2025, serving to strengthen the party's grassroots foundation.
Looking ahead, the NDC has scheduled its regional-level elections for November 14 and 15, 2026, following the completion of the constituency polls. The entire reorganization process will culminate in the National Congress on December 19, 2026, where delegates will elect the party's national executive officers. Party leadership views the successful execution of these internal elections as a vital step in maintaining momentum and building a robust structure for the upcoming political term.
