National Security Launches Operation Against Illegal Transport Fares in Kumasi

The Ashanti Regional Office of the National Security Secretariat has launched a special joint operation aimed at curbing illegal transport fare charges in Greater Kumasi. Spearheaded by Capt. (Rtd.) Kwame Jabari, the initiative involves over 20 security personnel focusing on commercial drivers and conductors who unlawfully raise fares. Those caught in violation will be handed over to the Ghana Police for prosecution. The operation is set to run for approximately 14 hours each day and aims to instill discipline among transport operators. To mitigate inconvenience for commuters, at least 10 Metro Mass buses will be deployed to assist passengers during this crackdown.
