Nana Dokua Amponsah III, the Paramount Queenmother of the Osudoku Traditional Area, has called on the government to address a perceived developmental imbalance within the Shai-Osudoku District. She expressed concern that current state interventions and infrastructure projects appear to be heavily concentrated in the Shai portion of the district, particularly in Dodowa, while the Osudoku area remains underserved. The Queenmother emphasized that the lack of equitable resource distribution is hindering the overall growth of the district and the well-being of its residents.
A central pillar of her appeal is the urgent need for upgraded road networks in key agricultural hubs such as Asutsuare and Tsopoli. According to Nana Dokua Amponsah III, the deplorable state of roads in these communities continues to deter potential investors and complicates the transportation of goods and services. She argued that the provision of modern infrastructure is a prerequisite for unlocking the economic potential of the area and improving the livelihoods of the local population who rely heavily on trade and farming.
Highlighting Osudoku's strategic importance, the Queenmother pointed out that the area serves as a vital food basket for the Greater Accra Region. She maintained that enhancing road conditions would not only facilitate easier access to markets for local farmers but also significantly boost agricultural productivity. By streamlining the supply chain from the farm gate to urban centers, she suggested that the government could help stabilize food prices and ensure greater regional food security.
The Paramount Queenmother concluded by urging the government to take immediate action to prioritize the construction and rehabilitation of roads within Osudoku. She noted that while progress in other parts of the district is commendable, the people of Osudoku require their fair share of national development to thrive. Addressing these infrastructure deficits, she stated, is essential for fostering a sense of inclusion and driving sustainable development across the entire Shai-Osudoku District.
