Daasebre Nana Atta Opusu Kwakwa Agyir V, the Chief of Gomoa Tarkwa, has issued a strong call to parents to foster a more cooperative relationship with teachers instead of resorting to attacks over school discipline. Speaking at a ceremony dedicated to enhancing local educational standards, the traditional leader emphasized that the tendency of some parents to confront educators when their children are punished for misconduct undermines the foundations of learning and character development. He stressed that a disciplined environment is necessary for students to achieve their full potential.
The Chief highlighted that academic success is a collaborative effort requiring mutual respect between the home and the classroom. He noted that when parents support teachers, it creates a more conducive environment for students to excel and for educational standards to rise across the board. To support this vision, the traditional leader presided over the distribution of free textbooks and provided financial assistance to 100 tertiary students from the community. This initiative is intended to reduce the financial burden on families and encourage the youth to pursue higher education.
Beyond immediate financial aid and materials, Daasebre Nana Atta Opusu Kwakwa Agyir V appealed to the government and non-governmental organisations to invest in the community's educational infrastructure. He specifically identified the urgent need for modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratories and well-stocked libraries to ensure local students are prepared for the demands of the digital world. Parents and students at the ceremony expressed their gratitude for the Chief's commitment, pledging to work more closely with school authorities to improve academic outcomes in Gomoa Tarkwa.
