The Multimedia Group has emerged as the frontrunner for the upcoming 30th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Media Awards, securing nine nominations for its journalists and content. The finalists were officially announced on November 2 at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra, following a rigorous review of 327 entries submitted across various media formats. These awards recognize outstanding journalistic work produced during the 2025 calendar year, with the main ceremony scheduled to take place on November 7 at the La Palm Convention Centre.
President John Mahama is slated to attend the event as the Special Guest of Honour, highlighting the national significance of the milestone 30th edition. Among the group's diverse nominations is Jemimah Andoh, a Level 300 student at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC-SOJAMS). Andoh was nominated for the Best Student Journalist award for her investigative feature story titled "Vanishing Pesewas," which was broadcast on JoyNews. Currently serving as the Vice President of the Journalism and Media Students Association (JMSA), her recognition underscores the role of established media houses in fostering emerging talent.
This year's awards are organized under the theme "Celebrating Excellence, Advancing Media Freedom and Combating Hate Speech in the Digital Age." The GJA aims for this edition to honor journalistic contributions that strengthen Ghana's democratic governance and enhance public accountability. By spotlighting high-quality reportage, the association seeks to reinforce professional standards in an increasingly digital and complex information environment.
The ceremony represents the highest level of professional recognition for journalists in Ghana, bringing together industry leaders, government officials, and civil society. As the Multimedia Group prepares for the event, its strong showing in the nominations reflects its sustained influence in providing impactful news and analysis. The final awards will be presented during the gala, marking another year of celebrating excellence in the Ghanaian media landscape.
