MultiChoice Ghana has officially launched a simplified subscription structure for DStv, featuring four new packages with prices starting as low as GH₵50. Announced by Managing Director Alex Okyere, the new pricing model is set to take effect on November 5, 2026. The move represents a strategic shift to make premium television content more accessible to Ghanaian households while streamlining the service from six existing tiers down to four.
The revamped lineup includes the Starter package at GH₵50, which replaces the previous Access tier. The Select package has been priced at GH₵100, a significant reduction from the former price of GH₵188. For sports enthusiasts, a dedicated Sports package is available for GH₵250, providing access to major global football leagues. The top-tier Ultimate package, which previously cost GH₵854, has been reduced to GH₵570. In addition to the subscription cuts, MultiChoice has merged several movie channels to improve content flow and reduced the cost of DStv hardware.
According to Alex Okyere, the price reductions are a direct response to customer feedback and a key component of the company’s strategy to combat piracy. By offering more affordable legal alternatives, MultiChoice aims to discourage the use of illegal streaming services and unauthorized decoders. Okyere emphasized that the company is collaborating closely with local authorities to tackle intellectual property theft, noting that the new pricing makes the risks associated with illegal alternatives largely unattractive to consumers.
Current subscribers do not need to purchase new equipment to benefit from the changes. MultiChoice confirmed that existing customers will be automatically migrated to the new package structure on the effective date. This transition is intended to be seamless, ensuring that viewers can continue enjoying their favorite content under the more affordable price points without technical interruptions.
