MTN Ghana has officially launched a national business pitch competition for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), offering a grand prize of GH₵300,000. The initiative, introduced as part of the telecommunications giant's 30th-anniversary celebrations, is designed to provide financial support and professional resources to emerging businesses across the country. By focusing on indigenous enterprises, the program aims to address the critical funding gap that often hinders the scaling of small businesses in the Ghanaian market. The competition is set to identify and support 48 finalists through a rigorous selection process. To be eligible, SMEs must be registered and have been operational for at least one year. Applicants are required to submit a written business response along with a video pitch that outlines their value proposition and growth potential. Beyond the national grand prize, MTN has also designated prizes for regional winners, who will each receive GH₵30,000 to bolster their local operations. In addition to the cash awards, the finalists will benefit from a comprehensive support package including digital tools and professional mentorship. This holistic approach is intended to equip entrepreneurs with more than just capital; it provides the technological infrastructure and expertise necessary to modernize business operations. MTN noted that the initiative builds upon the success of previous SME programs, reflecting the company’s commitment to fostering a resilient private sector. The program is expected to play a significant role in job creation and the broader development of the national economy. By empowering small businesses to overcome financial and technical hurdles, MTN Ghana seeks to create a ripple effect of economic stability and innovation. As the competition progresses, the focus remains on transforming viable business ideas into sustainable enterprises that can compete both locally and internationally, ultimately contributing to the country’s industrialization goals.
