The Member of Parliament for Suame, John Darko, has been granted enquiry bail by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following his appearance at the agency's head office. The lawmaker is currently assisting in an investigation regarding an alleged criminal conspiracy that resulted in financial losses of approximately GH₵27 million to SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited. The probe seeks to uncover the circumstances surrounding the significant loss of funds and identify any potential regulatory or criminal breaches.
During his session with investigators, John Darko was reported to have demonstrated a high level of cooperation and respectfulness toward the inquiry process. His appearance at the EOCO headquarters is part of a broader investigation into the institution's financial dealings. Alongside the Suame MP, Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, the former Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, is also cooperating with the investigative body as part of the ongoing probe into the alleged conspiracy.
EOCO has clarified that while the investigation is moving forward, no definitive conclusions have been drawn regarding the culpability of any individuals involved. The granting of enquiry bail is a standard procedure in such high-profile financial investigations, allowing the subject to remain at liberty while authorities continue their work. Further updates are expected as the Economic and Organised Crime Office concludes its assessment of the evidence related to the GH₵27 million loss.
