Mozambique's President Daniel Chapo has announced a financial incentive for the national football team ahead of their crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against Nigeria on January 5, 2025. The president pledged a bonus of 500,000 meticais (approximately $7,824) to motivate the players and coaching staff as they prepare for the Round of 16 clash at the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Fez.

Chapo expressed pride in the team's journey to the knockout stage, highlighting their performance in the group stages, where they secured only one victory against Gabon with a score of 3-2. Despite the challenges faced, he commended the players for their efforts and emphasized the support from the nation as they aim for success against a formidable opponent like Nigeria.
