Morgan International Community School (MICS) recently celebrated its 10th graduation ceremony and annual Speech and Prize-Giving Day at its campus in Gomoa Manso. The milestone event, which honored graduates from both the basic and senior high school levels, was held under the theme “Innovation with Purpose: Shaping Africa's Future in the Age of AI.” The ceremony served as a platform to recognize academic excellence while highlighting the school's commitment to preparing students for a rapidly evolving global landscape driven by technological advancement.
Keynote speakers, including Professor Jemima Asabea Anderson and Wisdom Kwaku Deku, emphasized the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the modern educational sector and its impact on future job requirements. They urged the graduating class to view AI not just as a tool, but as a critical component of innovation that can solve complex challenges across the African continent. The speakers underscored that as the global economy shifts, students must be equipped with both the technical literacy and the ethical framework to navigate the age of digital intelligence effectively.
High academic achievement was a central focus of the day, with special recognition given to the valedictorians of the graduating classes of 2026. Nana Ama Pokuah Sarfo was honored as the valedictorian for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) stream, while Henrietta Afua Otuah Otoo received top honors for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). These awards highlighted the school’s dual-curriculum approach, which aims to provide students with both local relevance and international competitiveness.
The school's founder concluded the ceremony by reaffirming MICS’s mission to provide a holistic education that goes beyond traditional classroom learning. By fostering an environment that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving, the institution aims to produce leaders who are not only academically proficient but also ready to contribute meaningfully to Africa’s development. The event closed with a sense of optimism, as the 10th cohort of graduates was encouraged to lead with purpose and drive innovation in their respective future careers.
