The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), in a strategic partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has officially handed over a suite of agricultural technology equipment and digital tools to five prominent agricultural colleges across Ghana. The beneficiary institutions—Ejura, Ohawu, Kwadaso, Wenchi, and Damongo Agricultural Colleges—received the items during a ceremony held at Kwadaso Agricultural College. This initiative represents a significant step toward modernizing the nation's agricultural education sector and fostering a new era of technology-driven farming practices.
The handover was conducted under the theme of transforming agricultural education through digitalization and innovation, reflecting a targeted effort to equip the next generation of agricultural professionals with 21st-century skills. By integrating digital tools into the academic and practical curricula of these five colleges, the partners aim to bridge the technological divide that has traditionally hampered the sector's efficiency. The collaboration between MoFA, the WFP, and KOICA underscores the critical role of international partnerships in achieving sustainable food security and advancing the nation's educational infrastructure.
Moving forward, the provision of these digital farming tools is expected to significantly enhance practical training and research capabilities within the colleges, allowing students to master modern techniques before entering the workforce. As the global agricultural landscape becomes increasingly reliant on data and technology, the modernization of these institutions is essential for ensuring that Ghana's agricultural sector remains competitive and resilient. This equipment handover marks a vital milestone in the ongoing efforts to leverage innovation for national development and long-term food sovereignty.
