Winnifred Mawudeku, the Director of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, has provided clarity on her recruitment and subsequent appointment to the role within the Ghana Football Association (GFA). Her position had previously drawn public scrutiny and media attention due to her familial relationship as the sister of the GFA President, Kurt Okraku. In her recent remarks, she sought to address the narrative surrounding her employment by outlining the professional steps she took to secure the job.
Mawudeku explained that her journey to the directorship began when she identified a vacancy advertisement posted on the official GFA website. Contrary to perceptions of an accelerated or preferential hiring process, she noted that the recruitment was a protracted affair. After submitting her formal application through the public portal, she waited for a full year before the association contacted her to invite her for an official interview.
The Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, located in Prampram, serves as the primary technical hub for Ghana’s various national football teams and coaching programs. Mawudeku’s decision to detail her recruitment comes as part of an effort to affirm the transparency of the GFA's administrative processes. By highlighting her adherence to standard application and interview procedures, she aims to establish that her leadership at the facility is based on merit and formal selection rather than nepotism.
