The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended three men suspected of orchestrating a series of targeted robberies against bank customers in Kumasi. The operation, conducted on October 31, 2026, led to the arrests of Aboy Promise, 30, and Favour Uwalaka, 45, at a hotel in Moshie Zongo. A third suspect, known as Kingsley or "KC," was taken into custody at a separate hotel located in Dechemso following intelligence-led surveillance by security forces.
According to police reports, the gang specialized in tracking individuals after they made withdrawals from various financial institutions. Upon their arrest, officers recovered GH₵1,600.00 in cash, several mobile phones, and a Royal motorbike used in their operations. Crucially, the police also found specialized tools designed for unauthorized entry into vehicles, which the suspects allegedly used to break into cars and steal cash left behind by unsuspecting victims.
During preliminary interrogations, the suspects admitted their involvement in multiple robbery incidents across the Kumasi metropolis. One notable case involved the theft of GH₵15,000 on October 27, just days before their apprehension. While three members of the syndicate are currently in custody, the police have identified a fourth accomplice, Chinedu, also known as "Alhaji," who remains at large. Security agencies are actively pursuing him and have called on the public to provide any information that could lead to his capture.
In the wake of these arrests, the Ashanti Regional Police Command has issued a stern warning to the public, particularly bank customers, to remain highly vigilant when conducting transactions. The police advised citizens to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious individuals loitering near banking halls or following them after withdrawals. This crackdown is part of an ongoing effort by the regional command to enhance security and deter criminal elements targeting the business community.
