The Assin South District Police Command has arrested Joseph Mensah and his son, Anthony Mensah, in connection with the alleged murder of 31-year-old Samuel Kofi Amankwa. The incident took place in Assin Akrofuom, located in the Central Region, following a dispute over missing agricultural produce. The victim, known locally as "Kofi Marshie," was reportedly targeted after being accused of stealing cocoa beans and coconut seedlings.
According to witness accounts, Amankwa was forcibly removed from his home and subjected to a severe physical assault by the suspects. The beating was allegedly a retaliation for the suspected theft of farm items. The severity of the assault led to the victim's death, prompting the intervention of the local police who subsequently took the father and son into custody to face murder charges.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing are currently ongoing. The body of the deceased has been transported to a morgue, where it awaits an autopsy to provide a formal cause of death. Law enforcement officials have indicated that the suspects will remain in custody as the case is prepared for further legal proceedings in the district.
