The Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has officially commissioned a new office for the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) in Weija, Greater Accra Region. This new facility was established to address the persistent challenges of overcrowding and the inadequacy of the previous office space, which had hampered efficient service delivery for residents. The commissioning marks a significant step in the government's efforts to decentralize and modernize licensing services to better serve the growing population in the region.
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister Nikpe emphasized the critical role of the DVLA staff in shaping the public's perception of government services. He urged the employees to execute their duties with a high sense of professionalism, integrity, and courtesy, noting that their conduct is essential for enhancing public confidence in state institutions. By providing a more spacious and better-equipped environment, the Minister highlighted that the new office should translate into a more seamless and respectful experience for all clients seeking licensing services.
Minister Nikpe further commended the leadership of the DVLA for their commitment to modernizing operations through technological and infrastructural reforms. He reaffirmed the Ministry of Transport’s ongoing support for initiatives aimed at improving road safety and strengthening law enforcement within the transport sector. The Weija office is expected to alleviate the pressure on other DVLA centers in Accra, ensuring that drivers and vehicle owners can access essential services more conveniently while supporting the broader goal of improved road safety across Ghana.
