Joint 77, a former member of the SM Militants, has publicly refuted allegations made by dancehall musician Shatta Wale regarding the group's work ethic and commitment. Speaking during an interview on Adom TV, the musician dismissed claims that he and his fellow group members were "lazy" during their time with the Shatta Movement. Joint 77 asserted that the group remained highly active in recording and producing music, particularly following the massive success of their collaborative hit, "Taking Over."
Reflecting on the factors that led to their public split in 2020, Joint 77 suggested that Shatta Wale’s negative narrative might have been motivated by the rising fame of the individual group members. He claimed that the dancehall star may have felt threatened or envious as the Militants began to receive significant independent recognition from the public. Joint 77 questioned the authenticity of Shatta Wale's version of their professional relationship, emphasizing that the group contributed substantially to the collective success of the brand during their tenure.
Despite the lingering tension and the current focus on his solo career, Joint 77 expressed a desire for potential reconciliation in the future. He noted that he still values the bond formed during their early years in the music industry and believes that Shatta Wale "still needs our presence." While he stated that a reunion is not imminent, Joint 77 remains committed to achieving independent success as a way to prove his worth and eventually rekindle a professional relationship with his former mentor.
