Gospel musician Joe Mettle will headline the 2026 Ɔdadeɛ Torch & Bonfire Night as the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, celebrates its historic ninth National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) championship. The event, which has become a staple in the school’s social and commemorative calendar, is scheduled to take place at the PRESEC School Park on October 30, starting at 6 PM. The celebration marks a significant milestone for the school, which has solidified its position as the most successful institution in the history of the national competition.
Dubbed the "ADO9 Edition" to reflect the school's ninth victory, the night promises a blend of spiritual thanksgiving and festive camaraderie. Joining Joe Mettle on the main stage are the renowned gospel group Team Eternity Ghana and the veteran trio Daughters of Glorious Jesus. These performances are intended to highlight the school's tradition of attributing its academic successes to divine grace, combining high-energy gospel music with the traditional torchlight procession and the ceremonial lighting of the bonfire.
Beyond the musical performances, the gathering serves as a critical fellowship platform for the Ɔdadeɛ, the global association of PRESEC alumni. It brings together multiple generations of old boys, providing an opportunity for networking and the strengthening of bonds between the "seniors" and current students. The event is expected to draw a massive crowd of alumni from across the country and the diaspora, all converging to honour the quiz team's latest feat and reinforce the school's "In Lumine Tuo Videbimus Lumen" (In Thy Light We Shall See Light) spirit.
The Ɔdadeɛ Torch & Bonfire Night continues to be one of the most anticipated events for the PRESEC community, serving as both a celebration of academic prowess and a demonstration of alumni solidarity. As the school prepares to host this record-breaking edition, the focus remains on maintaining the legacy of excellence that has defined PRESEC Legon for decades, ensuring that the school's cultural and academic influence continues to inspire future generations.
