Jay-Z to headline Super Bowl LXI halftime show in 2027

The NFL, Roc Nation, and Apple Music have announced that 25-time Grammy winner Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show on February 14, 2027. The performance, set to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, marks a significant transition for the artist. While Jay-Z’s company, Roc Nation, has been responsible for producing and curating the league’s halftime entertainment since 2019, this announcement confirms he will take the stage as the primary performer for the first time.

The scheduled performance is particularly symbolic as it coincides with the 30th anniversary of Jay-Z’s debut studio album, Reasonable Doubt, which was released in 1996. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expressed enthusiasm for the selection, noting that he had previously encouraged Jay-Z to perform when the timing felt right. Jay-Z, the first rapper ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, described the upcoming show as a major milestone in a musical journey that has now spanned three decades.

Roc Nation will oversee the production of the spectacle, with Hamish Hamilton confirmed to direct the broadcast. Since partnering with the NFL, Jay-Z has been instrumental in shaping the league's entertainment strategy, previously managing high-profile performances by artists such as Rihanna and Kendrick Lamar. The announcement has already generated significant buzz regarding potential guest appearances, with many fans and industry observers speculating that his wife, Beyoncé, may join him on stage during the performance.

As one of the world's most-watched television events, the Super Bowl halftime show continues to serve as a massive platform for global cultural influence. Jay-Z's selection highlights the NFL's ongoing commitment to hip-hop and its central role in modern entertainment. The 2027 show is expected to be a career-spanning celebration of the artist's legacy, blending his extensive catalogue of hits with the innovative production standards established by Roc Nation over the past several years.
