The Ghana Police Service’s Special Operations Team has apprehended 192 suspects during a month-long series of intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing criminal activities and illicit drug trafficking. These strategic raids, which took place between October 2 and October 29, 2026, represent a coordinated effort by the police administration to secure various communities and disrupt the supply chains of narcotics across the country.
The tactical operations focused on high-risk areas known for illegal trade, specifically targeting locations such as Teshie, Lapaz, and Okaishie. During these exercises, police officers successfully confiscated a wide array of illicit items, including firearms and substantial quantities of substances suspected to be cocaine, Tramadol, and nitrous oxide. Among the 192 individuals taken into custody, several have been identified by the police as major dealers within the narcotics trade, marking a significant blow to the local distribution networks of these dangerous substances.
Authorities confirmed that the operations were the result of weeks of surveillance and information gathering. The Ghana Police Service is currently conducting further investigations to establish connections between the arrested suspects and wider criminal syndicates. As the legal process begins, the police have assured the public that they remain committed to maintaining law and order through similar proactive measures. The suspects are currently being processed for court while the service continues to pursue additional leads related to the seized contraband.
