GNPC Exploration and Production Limited (Explorco) has reported a significant improvement in its financial performance for the 2025 fiscal year, characterized by revenue growth and a reduction in company borrowings. Speaking at the company’s first-ever Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 27, 2026, Managing Director Samuel Opoku Arthur stated that the company has achieved stronger cash generation and is now well-positioned for its upcoming operational milestones. These financial gains come at a critical time as the company prepares to lead Ghana’s strategic onshore exploration efforts.
A primary focus of the meeting was the upcoming drilling campaign in the Voltaian Basin, which is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026. Mr. Arthur emphasized that Explorco is prioritizing technical expertise and robust risk management as it transitions into this active drilling phase. By enhancing its operational efficiency and technical depth, the company aims to establish itself as a credible indigenous operator capable of managing complex upstream petroleum projects while maximizing local participation in the sector.
Deputy Minister for Energy Richard Gyan-Mensah attended the meeting and expressed the government's expectations for the timely and successful start of the Voltaian Basin project. He stressed the importance of maintaining rigorous due diligence and transparency during project execution to ensure that the nation’s petroleum resources are managed effectively. The successful exploration of the basin is considered a vital step in expanding Ghana's hydrocarbon reserves and building long-term national capacity in the oil and gas industry.
