The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather forecast for October 20, 2026, predicting localized rain and thunderstorms across the middle, transition, and northern sectors. According to the report signed by Duty Forecaster Kirk Amedzake, the country will experience varying conditions starting with morning mist in the forest and mountainous areas, followed by sunny intervals in the afternoon.
In the morning, visibility is expected to be reduced in parts of the forest sector due to fog or mist. While the coastal and northern sectors will start the day with partly cloudy skies, conditions are expected to clear for sunnier periods by midday. In the capital, Accra, the weather will feature a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day, with rain anticipated during the evening hours.
Temperature forecasts indicate intense heat in the northern regions, with Bolgatanga expected to reach a maximum of 36°C. Tamale and other parts of the north will see temperatures between 24°C and 35°C, often accompanied by evening thunderstorms. The southern and transition sectors will remain slightly cooler, with maximum temperatures around 33°C in Kumasi and Accra.
Safety concerns have been raised for the maritime sector, as the agency warns of rough sea conditions. Fishermen and other coastal operators are advised to exercise caution despite some reports of calmer states. The agency emphasizes the importance of monitoring weather updates, particularly as localized thunderstorms are expected to develop across several regions late in the day.
