Thousands of Catholic worshippers, religious leaders, and state officials have converged at the Wa Malik Jaabre Sports Stadium for the commencement of the second edition of the Global Rosary Congress. The three-day event is designed to promote evangelisation, religious harmony, and national peace through a series of prayer sessions and personal testimonies. The gathering brings together a diverse group of participants, including traditional rulers, to highlight the importance of spiritual devotion in addressing modern societal challenges.
Delivering the keynote address, Bishop Peter Paul Yelezuome emphasized the significance of the Rosary as a powerful instrument for evangelisation. He urged the Christian community to go beyond ritualistic prayer and actively embody the teachings of Jesus Christ in their daily interactions. Supporting this message, Reverend Father David Obeng Paintsil shared transformative personal experiences, illustrating the spiritual impact of the Rosary on the lives of the faithful and its role in fostering inner peace.
The Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing, also addressed the congress, underscoring its importance to the stability of the region. He noted that such religious gatherings are essential for enhancing regional unity and fostering a culture of respect across various denominations. Minister Puozuing praised the organisers for choosing Wa as the host city, suggesting that the event serves as a platform for strengthening the bonds between different faith groups in the Upper West Region.
Traditional leaders present at the stadium expressed their solidarity with the Catholic community, highlighting that the area’s religious diversity is one of its greatest strengths. They noted that the congress provides an opportunity for all citizens, regardless of their faith, to reflect on the values of tolerance and coexistence. As the event continues over the next two days, participants are expected to engage in further sessions aimed at consolidating peace and promoting the shared values of humanity.
