Ghana National Gas Limited Company has launched its Eco Brigade Programme in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region. Developed in partnership with the Ellembelle District Assembly, the initiative aims to improve environmental sanitation while creating jobs for local residents. The programme has officially employed 250 individuals who will be tasked with cleaning coastal areas and reducing marine pollution in several communities across the district.
The official launch was led by Ghana Gas CEO Judith Adjobah Blay alongside the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah. During the ceremony, officials explained that the Eco Brigade is a key component of the company’s corporate social responsibility strategy, aimed at fostering community development. The newly recruited staff will focus on the systematic removal of waste materials from the shoreline to restore the natural beauty of the area and enhance environmental sustainability.
Beyond its immediate environmental impact, the programme represents a strategic effort to provide economic relief to host communities. By integrating job creation with environmental protection, Ghana Gas aims to address the challenges of marine waste while supporting the socio-economic wellbeing of residents. The initiative underscores the company’s commitment to long-term ecological health and demonstrates a model for marriage between industrial operations and local social welfare.
