The Ghana–Anhui Chamber of Commerce and Industry has significantly bolstered the nation’s grassroots sports development by donating 2,120 sports items to the National Sports Authority (NSA). The donation, presented at a ceremony in Accra to the NSA’s Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee (RMPC), is specifically designed to support the nationwide Constituency Games. This initiative aligns with President John Mahama’s 'Reset Ghana Sports Agenda,' which focuses on identifying and developing local talent at the community level to ensure a sustainable pipeline for national athletic success.
The substantial contribution includes 600 pairs of athletic footwear and 1,520 adult-sized 'Peace' T-shirts. These items are intended to remove socio-economic barriers for young athletes across Ghana’s diverse communities, providing them with the basic equipment necessary to participate in structured sporting competitions. By focusing on the constituency level, the National Sports Authority aims to create a more inclusive environment where talent can be spotted regardless of a participant's location or background.
Speaking at the presentation, RMPC Chairman Samson Deen emphasized that the donation represents a vital investment in the nation’s youth and overall national development. He asserted that no child should be denied the opportunity to explore their sporting potential due to a lack of resources and called upon other corporate entities to follow the Chamber’s lead. Deen highlighted that such private-sector partnerships are essential for the government to achieve its goal of providing comprehensive sporting infrastructure and opportunities across all regions.
Tang Wei, Chairman of the Ghana–Anhui Chamber of Commerce and Industry, described the donation as a core part of the organization’s corporate social responsibility. He noted that sports serve as a powerful tool for uniting communities and fostering a spirit of discipline and excellence among the youth. The Chamber pledged its ongoing support for Ghana’s national sports initiatives, viewing this contribution as a first step toward a deeper collaboration aimed at enhancing the country’s presence on the international sporting stage.
