The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially released the Capitation Grant for the first term of the 2026/2027 academic year. This move ensures that public basic schools across the country have the necessary financial resources to operate effectively during the current term. The funds have already been transferred from the national level to the various District Education Directorates for onward disbursement to individual schools.
The release includes specific allocations for school operations as well as a dedicated Sports and Culture component. Regional Directors of Education have been instructed to ensure that these funds reach the schools under their jurisdiction by October 30, 2026. This strict timeline is intended to prevent delays in school administration and to facilitate the smooth running of extracurricular activities and daily academic requirements.
Following the disbursement process, the GES headquarters will conduct a rigorous monitoring exercise scheduled for the first week of November. This oversight is aimed at verifying that the funds have reached the intended recipients and are being utilized according to established financial guidelines. The timely release of the grant is regarded as a critical step in supporting the government's ongoing commitment to providing free and accessible basic education for all students.
