PwC Ghana has announced a significant leadership transition with the appointment of George Arhin as the new Country Senior Partner (CSP), effective October 1, 2026. Arhin, who brings over 23 years of experience from both Ghana and the United Kingdom, will succeed Vish Ashiagbor, who is slated to retire in June 2027 after nearly three decades with the firm. Having previously served as the Assurance Leader for PwC Ghana and Liberia, Arhin expressed a firm commitment to maintaining the values of quality and trust while expanding the firm's impact across sub-Saharan Africa. The appointment is seen as a strategic move to navigate evolving market demands and strengthen partnerships across the region.
Parallel to this leadership change, the banking sector is seeing substantial infrastructure investment and celebratory milestones. Absa Bank Ghana recently inaugurated its new head office, 'Absa Place,' located in the Ridge financial district of Accra. During the ceremony, Vice-President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang urged the bank to deepen its support for the national economy, specifically calling for improved financial access for women and young entrepreneurs. Managing Director Dr. Edward Nartey Botchway reaffirmed the bank's century-long commitment to the Ghanaian market, highlighting the new headquarters as a symbol of the evolving nature of financial services in the country.
Fidelity Bank Ghana has also launched its 20th-anniversary celebrations under the theme 'Twenty Years of Audacious Steps.' To mark two decades of operations, the bank announced several corporate social responsibility initiatives, including the installation of solar power systems in 20 community hospitals and the 'Impact at Twenty' program focused on health and climate action. Managing Director Julian Opuni and Founder Edward Effah highlighted the bank's journey from its inception to becoming a leader in financial inclusion. To engage customers during this jubilee, the bank introduced the 'Jubilee Drive Promo,' which features prizes such as electric vehicles and cash rewards.
Further broadening the business landscape, retail and community banking services are expanding their physical and continental reach. AfroQuality has opened its flagship store at the A&C Mall in Accra, a platform designed to help African brands like Wear Ghana and Horseman access wider markets across Kigali, Dakar, and Nairobi. Founder Saint Hilary Doe-Tamakloe noted that the initiative aims to solve distribution challenges for local businesses under the principle of 'Buy African, Build Africa.' Meanwhile, OmniBSIC Bank has relocated its Dome branch to a more modern facility, a move Accra North Zonal Manager Hannah Esi Dadzie described as a key part of the bank's broader strategy to enhance customer experience and strengthen its local presence.
