The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has announced the deployment of social welfare officers to monitor the children of fashion personality Nana Akua Addo and her husband, Harold Norman. This intervention follows a high-profile domestic violence case involving the couple. The Ministry’s primary objective is to ensure that the children are adequately protected from the emotional and psychological fallout of the ongoing conflict within their household.
The decision was confirmed after the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, held a meeting with Mr. Norman following his recent discharge from the hospital. During the engagement, Dr. Lartey stressed the importance of maintaining a stable environment for the children's development. She noted that the state must step in to oversee the welfare of minors when domestic disputes threaten their safety or emotional well-being.
In addition to the deployment of social welfare officers, the Ministry is collaborating with the Ghana Police Service and other state agencies to manage the situation. The officers will provide regular oversight to track the children’s progress and emotional health as investigations into the domestic violence case continue. Dr. Lartey reiterated that the Ministry remains committed to supporting families in crisis while prioritizing the best interests of the children involved.
