Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Member of Parliament for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK), has officially commenced construction on new educational infrastructure projects aimed at improving learning conditions in rural communities. During a sod-cutting ceremony held at Abura Dunkwa, the MP emphasized the urgent need to address the deficit in school buildings across the constituency. The initiative is specifically designed to eliminate the practice of holding classes under trees, providing students with safe and conducive permanent structures for their basic education.
The current phase of development focuses on several key locations, including Obenkrom and Kwesi Amaa. A three-unit classroom block is being constructed at Obenkrom, while a two-unit block is slated for Kwesi Amaa to replace makeshift classrooms that currently leave pupils exposed to the elements. Additionally, the project includes the start of phase two for a 12-unit ultramodern classroom block in the Moree community, which will significantly expand the educational capacity of the area upon completion.
Beyond educational facilities, the infrastructure package also includes the construction of health service facilities to support the well-being of the local population. Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stated that these projects are expected to be completed within a six-month timeframe. By integrating education and health infrastructure, the MP aims to provide a more comprehensive support system for rural residents, ensuring that basic social services are accessible within their immediate vicinity.
This initiative reflects a broader effort to modernize infrastructure in the AAK constituency and bridge the gap between rural and urban educational standards. Local residents have expressed optimism that the new facilities will lead to improved enrollment and academic performance by removing environmental barriers to learning. The transition from makeshift classrooms to modern buildings represents a significant step in the MP's agenda to provide sustainable development and an enhanced quality of life for his constituents.
