The Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL) has received a major boost for its long-standing annual free health screening exercise through significant donations from leading pharmaceutical companies. M&G Pharmaceutical Ltd and Ernest Chemists Limited contributed medicines valued at GH₵15,000, while Dannex Ayrton Starwin PLC provided additional medical supplies to support the initiative. Hosted in Adabraka, this annual community outreach program is a cornerstone of GCGL’s corporate social responsibility, aimed at enhancing access to preventive healthcare and encouraging residents to prioritize their medical well-being.
The health screening offers a wide array of services, ranging from general medical consultations and treatments for common conditions to specialized care in dentistry and ophthalmology. During the donation ceremonies, industry leaders emphasized the critical role of corporate collaboration in improving public health. A director from M&G Pharmaceutical highlighted the company's commitment to local medicine production, while representatives from Ernest Chemists stressed the importance of supporting vulnerable populations. These contributions ensure that the screening can provide high-quality care to a large number of participants at no cost to the individuals.
Francis George Ekumah, the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Dannex Ayrton Starwin PLC, underscored the necessity of such partnerships in promoting regular health checks and healthier lifestyles. He noted that corporate support is essential for the sustainability of large-scale public health initiatives. Kyerewaa Asiamah Wiafe, GCGL’s acting Corporate Communications Manager, welcomed the donations and extended an invitation to other corporate entities to join the cause. She noted that the exercise, which has been organized for over 20 years, continues to be a vital resource for the community, typically operating from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to maximize its impact.
This collaborative effort reflects a broader commitment to health awareness and accessibility within the Ghanaian pharmaceutical and media sectors. By providing both the diagnostic tools and the necessary treatments, the partners aim to move beyond simple screenings toward a more holistic approach to community health. As GCGL looks toward the future, the continued involvement of major pharmaceutical players remains instrumental in addressing health disparities and ensuring that residents of Adabraka and surrounding areas have the resources they need to lead healthy lives.
