Rev. Enoch Nii Narh Thompson has been officially sworn in for a second term as the Executive President of the Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC). The induction ceremony, held in Accra, also saw Rev. Charles Oppong-Poku inducted as the Vice-President. This transition marks the continuation of the current leadership's mandate to steer the affairs of the Baptist community in Ghana for the next four years.
The service was conducted by the former President of the Convention, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, who performed the official rites of induction. The event was attended by a cross-section of religious leaders, representatives of various denominations, and members of the GBC. During the ceremony, the leadership was encouraged to maintain the spiritual integrity of the convention while pursuing organizational growth and professional excellence.
At the heart of Rev. Thompson’s second-term agenda is the "Operation 2000 by 2030" initiative. This strategic vision aims to expand the convention’s reach by increasing its membership from the current 1,500 congregations to 2,000 by the year 2030. The president emphasized that this growth strategy focuses on church development, financial sustainability, and strengthening the spiritual foundation of the Baptist faith across the country.
In his address, Rev. Thompson highlighted the necessity of improving financial support mechanisms and human resource development within the Convention to ensure long-term viability. He pledged to promote Christian unity and continue fostering interfaith dialogue to support national peace. The leadership also plans to prioritize the welfare of clergy and the enhancement of the convention's social interventions in various sectors.
