Reverend Enoch Nii Narh Thompson has been officially inducted for his second four-year term as the Executive President of the Ghana Baptist Convention. The ceremony, held in Accra, also saw the induction of Reverend Charles Oppong-Poku as the Vice-President of the convention. The proceedings were conducted by Reverend Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, the former president of the convention, marking a formal transition into the leadership team's next phase of administration which will run through 2029.
Central to this new term is the implementation of a strategic plan titled 'Operation 2000 by 2030.' Under this initiative, the leadership aims to significantly expand the denomination's reach by increasing the total number of congregations from the current 1,500 to 2,000 by the end of the decade. This expansion is designed to drive spiritual growth and ensure a stronger presence for the Baptist faith across various regions of the country, focusing on both missionary outreach and local church development.
In addition to congregational growth, Reverend Thompson has highlighted financial sustainability and human resource development as primary pillars of his second term. He emphasized the necessity of improving the convention's financial support systems to ensure the long-term viability of its programs and the welfare of its members. The leadership also plans to focus on interfaith dialogue and Christian unity, seeking to foster a spirit of collaboration within the wider religious community in Ghana while strengthening the internal capacity of the convention's leadership and staff.
