Nana Boakye Dankwah Yiadom was recognized for Best in Community Impact Journalism, largely due to his documentary "Deadly Doses – Unmasking Ghana’s Drug Epidemic." Yiadom also received citations in the environment and health categories for his reports "Greens to Pit" and "A Sick Hospital." Additionally, Mahmud Mohammed-Nurudeen was named the Best Science, Climate, and Environment Reporter.
The excellence awards further celebrated the contributions of journalists from Citi FM and Channel One TV. These awards emphasized the critical role of specialized reporting in addressing national issues and informing the public on complex economic and social topics.
The 2025 Ashanti GJA Awards ceremony centered on maintaining journalism standards in the era of artificial intelligence. Speakers at the event encouraged journalists to leverage new tools without compromising the human element of investigative rigor and ethical responsibility. Following their regional success, these winners are expected to represent the Ashanti Region at the upcoming GJA National Awards, where they will compete for top honors on a broader stage.
