Member of Parliament for Techiman North, Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare, has officially commissioned a fully furnished Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in the Bonya community to improve local healthcare delivery. The new facility is equipped to provide essential primary health services, marking a significant milestone for a community that has historically struggled with geographic barriers to medical care. The commissioning fulfills a pledge made to the people of Bonya to bring healthcare closer to their doorsteps.
The establishment of the CHPS compound is expected to transform the lives of residents who previously endured long and often difficult journeys to Techiman for even minor health concerns. Expectant mothers, in particular, faced significant risks due to the lack of nearby maternal health services. By providing a dedicated space for antenatal care and basic medical interventions, the facility aims to lower maternal and child mortality rates while reducing the congestion at the main district hospital. To further support the health personnel stationed at the post, the MP also donated a new motorcycle, ensuring that nurses can conduct home visits and reach patients in remote parts of the enclave.
Speaking at the ceremony, community leaders and residents welcomed the development as a significant relief, noting that the facility represents a fulfillment of promises made by the MP. Local authorities have called on the community members to collaborate with the health staff and prioritize the maintenance of the new infrastructure. This collaborative approach is seen as essential for the long-term sustainability of the compound, ensuring it remains a reliable hub for health and wellness in Bonya for generations to come.
